Solar system is our planetary system.  Solar system is one among many planetary systems in the universe.  Solar system is just a small part/system inside the huge system which consists of many other big planets, stars and other elements in the universe called the Milky Way Galaxy.  This Milky Way Galaxy is just a part of billions of other galaxies which makes up this universe.

Solar system is a system in which sun is the orbit.  It’s a gravitationally system in which the main star is the sun and includes everything that moves around the sun in a circle.  The main objects which move around the sun are eight planets.  These eight planets are the largest objects that orbit around the sun.  Out of these eight planets, the four planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) have compact rocky surface just like earth.  These four planets belong to the inner side of solar system or we can say they belong to inner solar system having strong solid surfaces.  Two planets (Jupiter and Saturn) are gas giants also called Jovian planets and two planets (Uranus and Neptune) are icy giants.  These four planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune belong to outer side of solar system and these four planets do not have any particular type of surface just like inner solar system.  These 4 outer solar system planets mainly have a composition of gases and liquids.  Except all of these the most part of our solar system is just like an empty space.

History

Scientists believe that solar system was formed in the universe around 4.5 billion years ago. They suggest that there was a gravitational collapse within the body of huge object called molecular cloud. It was a combination of hot gases and dust. Gravitational force pulled up the particles of this huge cloud together and then there was a collapse and later on, this molecular cloud gave birth to many objects like planets and stars etc. The main composition of this molecular cloud was helium, hydrogen, gases and other heavier elements. This incident happened in a way putting the sun in the middle and other planets forming an orbit around the sun. Natural Golds and Experts also suggest that gravitational attraction in the solar system caused the planets, stars and other particles to start moving and also colliding with each other while there were chemical forces which forced them to bond together in a circle.

Sun

Experts say that there was a compression of a molecular cloud and the result was the formation of sun.  Sun is a star located at the center of our solar system. It’s very important, main and biggest part of our solar system covering almost 99% of the entire space in solar system. Our earth and other planets in our solar system are revolving around the sun.  It’s a composition of hydrogen and helium gases. The main energy on planets particularly on earth is obtained directly from sun which is necessary to support life.

Solar system

It is said that the radius of sun is more than 107 times than that of the size of earth. It’s a hot big ball and its temperature is so much that there is no any solid or liquid thing found which can survive over its surface. It is said that the temperature of the surface of sun is almost 27070000°F or 15500000 °C. It is said that sun converts hydrogen gases in helium which creates a large quantity of radiations and energy.

Planets

The largest part of our solar system are planets after sun. We also have discussed planets above.  Except 8 planets is our solar system scientists also have discovered a ninth planet named Pluto. In 2006 experts have suggested that this ninth planet (Pluto) and other tiny particles in our solar system must be called with a name called dwarf planets.

Moons of the Planets

Moons of the Planets

Moons are also called planetary satellite. They are an important part of our solar system. These are natural formed bodies which move around their planets. The best known of these is our Earth’s moon. According to a report by NASA the current number of moons orbiting around the planets or in our solar system is almost 290.  Some of these moons in our solar system have a specific surface just like earth’s moon and some of the moons are a combination of dust and gases. Experts also have said that there are also more than 450 planetary satellites or moons which are moving around their planets such as asteroids, dwarf planets etc. We can say them small-body satellites. The current number of moons in our solar system for each of the eight satellites are as under

Scientists suggest that moon have different shapes, types, motions and sizes. Some of them have surfaces while some of them don’t have any specific surfaces. Even some of them have water under their surfaces. Some of them are too big just like our earth’s moon while some of them are just 1/10th of the size of our earth’s moon.

Asteroids

Solar system

There are also certain other elements in our solar system consisting of metals and rocks which are revolving around the sun and are called asteroids. They are of different sizes and shapes.  Some of them are of hundreds of miles in diameter while other are very small. Even some of them just are normally burnt in the space.

How Solar System was Explored?

It is said that experts have been studying our solar system for the last thousands of years but only in the last 2 or 3 centuries experts really started working to find out how it is working. Experts always had a dream to know about the working of solar system. A satellite named Sputnik 1 was first satellite sent in the space to know about the working of solar system in 1957. After that a number of spacecrafts have been sent in the space, moon and to other satellites to explore more. People are getting more and more knowledge about solar system day by day. Many more planets, moons, asteroids, dwarf and other space particles have been discovered. In the modern age scientists have more technology, tools, radars and much more facilities to search the universal solar system.

Conclusion

At the end we can say that solar system is a combination of sun, planets, moons, asteroids, dwarf, stars and other particles whose center is sun and all other items in this solar system are revolving around the sun. Sun has covered a volume of almost 99% of the total space of this solar system but still there is much more empty space in this solar system.
